
Engaging Ergonomics and HF Practitioners
in the Deployment of
Human & Organizational Performance (HOP)
This session will provide an introduction to Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) and highlight the unique skills and expertise that the ergonomics & human factors community has that is essential for HOP deployment. This session will review the 6 core principles of HOP and show the connection of these principles to the approach that ergonomists have taken to improving work for decades. The hope is to create an appetite for the attendees to learn more about HOP and become involved in their organization’s HOP initiatives.
Speaker Bio
Lisa Brooks is a certified industrial ergonomist and one of the founding Principals of Nexus HSE, an organization dedicated to connecting innovators, pioneers, and change agents in the health, safety, and environmental field.
With over 30 years of experience as an ergonomics and safety practitioner, Lisa is widely recognized for her energy, passion, and leadership. Her distinctive technical expertise spans ergonomics, human and organizational performance (HOP), and serious and fatal incident prevention. She spent 24 years in industry in global safety and ergonomics leadership roles at GE, International Paper, and Alcoa, followed by 8 years leading global HSE networks at ORCHSE Strategies and the National Safety Council (NSC).
Lisa holds Master of Science degrees in Industrial & Operations Engineering and Kinesiology from the University of Michigan. She serves on the Advisory Board for the Ergonomics Center at NC State University and has been a member of the Leadership Team for the Applied Ergonomics Conference since 2005, where she is currently the incoming Chair.
A long-time advocate for collaborative learning, Lisa helped envision and organize the first HOP Summit in 2012 and has played a key role in managing subsequent summits. These events bring together HOP practitioners to share insights, challenges, and innovations in advancing safety and organizational performance.
